His birthday holds significance in the film franchise, where it was incorporated as a role in the film. Several key elements of Tom’s personal bio, such as his entries as an author, were inserted into the film as a rap sheet where the original author’s personal bio was stolen. The original script presented Tom Althouse with the wrap sheet, erasing the true author’s legacy and giving his personal identity to the main character that he created.
In addition to the original script being plagiarized, the studios and movie moguls utilized the material to benefit Joel Silver, an executive producer who co-owns the Matrix Franchise with the Lilly and Lana Wachowski and Keanu Reeves. These elements were also duplicated in shows like “Game of Thrones” by Home Box Office , “Walking Dead,” and “Minority Report,” among others. The biggest box office smash that incorporated elements from the original work was a movie called “Avatar.”
They manipulated the court system by using their own defense attorney, who was a classmate of their lead attorney with a suspended license to practice law. The goal was to solicit the author as their client to run out the statute of limitations on his claim. They had access to all his evidence and copyrighted materials, blocked all interviews, ensured no evidence was entered, and provided all evidence to the Warner Bro, including original drafts to understand “the work.” Their intention was to block evidence and supply their own attorney to ensure the case was dismissed. They simply wanted to give the studio everything they wanted to be done with the original screenwriter, while the attorney held him under a legal contract that he does not want revealed.
As soon as the case was dismissed, they immediately announced and released their different takes on the work. This led to Warner Bros. announcing “Elysian,” followed by the Wachowski Brothers announcing “Sense 8” , and also following Joe Silver announcing Oblivion.
Star actors such as Matt Damon, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Will Smith were not shown scripts when they were approached to play the lead roles in the projects derived from the manipulated and appropriated work.
This behind-the-scenes manipulation and appropriation of Tom Althouse’s work sheds light on the unethical practices prevalent in the entertainment industry.
